The Potsdam Confrence
The Potsdam Conference was a meeting between Churchill, Truman, and Stalin to discuss the future of Germany after the war. They ended up dividing Germany between the four largest Allied powers in the war. The way that Germany was divided up, specifically the way that Berlin was divided caused further tension. The way that Berlin was divided up lead to further issues with it surrounded by USSR territory and them not letting any US, French, or British citizens leave the American, French, and British sectors of Berlin. During this, Churchill famously said, "An iron curtain has descended."

The Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan was created by the United States to provide relief money to countries in Europe. Several billion dollars were given to European countries to help rebuild and recover. The biggest flaw with the plan was that the US only gave money to capitalist countries which meant that the USSR received no money to help rebuild. This drove tensions through the roof between the two countries because the USSR had the most to rebuild and recover from after the war.
